Leo is survived by his three brothers, Wayne (Kathy) VanDerHulst, Paul (Bonnie) VanDerHulst and Randy (Barb) VanDerHulst his sister, Joan (Mike) VanderKooi and his best friend for over 60 years, John Denuyl. His enthusiasm for life made Leo a great person to be around. If he wasn’t tinkering with tools, he enjoyed fishing, especially in the Gulf of Mexico. He was able to help out friends and family alike with his mechanical abilities. Leo worked as a mechanic most of his life, though, since he loved it so much and was very talented at it, it never seemed like work. ![]() Born March 3, 1941, in Holland, Michigan, he was the son of the late Albert and Alyda (Grotenhuis) VanDerHulst. Leo VanDerHulst, 81 of Holland, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, Augat Appledorn Assisted Living South in Holland, Michigan. Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice of Grand Rapids for their compassion and care shown to Leo during his last days here on earth and a big thank you to Appledorn Assisted Living South for their constant attention and care while Leo was with them. Linda retired from Tennant Company and was a member of the The Foundry Church in Zeeland. She was born in Holland, the daughter of Bernard and Joy (Jones) TerHorst, who both preceded her in death.
